Padded out form and added style lines. Draped top and skirt. Draped skirt flat to start and then added pleats in during the trueing process so that I could control fullness. Sleeve pattern adapted from a 1920s sleeve draft and scaled up for performer. Guided students through pleat marking and stitching.

Ada Byron Lovelace
COSTUME DESIGNED, DRAPED & FLAT PATTERNED BY BECCA JANNEY

Ada needed at least two looks for this show - the ballgown at the start and then a day dress. Due to budget constraints, I opted to create one skirt with two bodices. Draped a basic bodice pattern while referencing Janet Arnold for shape. Upscaled Janet Arnold to create sleeves and decorations. Both bodices are fully boned with ballet loops to attach to gathered skirt. Second tier for ball look was gathered and attached to bodice.

The actress who played Lady Anabella also played Mary Sommerville. Once more due to budget constraints, I opted to create one item that could be layered. Upscaled Janet Arnold for bodice & sleeves. Then I constructed a faux-pelerine garment out of a thrifted table runner.
